Listen to the Rain

Last year, I played in mutantur's Call of Cthuhlu game where we ran through The Sense of the Sleight of Hand Man, and while I didn't do full writeups of the sessions, I did take notes and save them. And now I'll leave them here.

• May 12th:

• June 9th:
  Strength draining teleporting ghosts!
  Two weeks on road! Western plateau
  Looted bodies fallen from above?
  Old man with bow. Crazy?
  Thrown over cliff!
  Crystalline cog in mountain?
  Mountain filled with cogs. Tree elder sign on door
  Question--"No" long war.
  Spiders from Leng
  Slavers.
  Descend into cave
  Old man. Ghoul?
  New Amsterdam
  Journey over the sea
  The Vaults of Zin!


• July 21st:
  In vaults, sounds in the dark
  Mercenary grabbed and eat!
  Escape vaults, wait for ghoul to do his work Torch wards off that army. Climb giant stairs Bone dunes!
  Climb in corpse sack. Carried to gug city
  To the Tower of Koth
  Climb up, night gaunts, escape to ruins of Sarnath
  Rescue Uvan
  Go
  Priest battle.


• August 3rd:
  Try to leave, fail
  Leave Uvan Go behind
  Lord Ivar of Immel. Many questions!
  From Lôsk. But going a strange way?
  To Ilarnek. Rest, then ship to Inqanok

  Council meeting, then time to rest

• August 25th:
  Fight pirates!
  Disintegrate captain after grabbed. Eye of Nodens!
  Slug monster., flee!
  Passengers still on ship. Rescue ten
  Chat
  Days-long sunset. City made of glass, like out of a song or a painting Captured! Assumed to be pirates "Magistrate Plum", "King of Dusk"

  King arrives. Saved from kangaroo court. Says nothing
  Dinner, Randolph Carter
  Walk around
  Cat servant, Aram.
  Guard from minions
  Public house, drinking thick golden liquid
  Randolph Carter dinner. Small room.

  Carter tells of Dream-Quest. Claims there is a deeper plane of reality than the Dreamlands


• September 1st:
  Awoken by gong!
  Out in hallway, can't speak?
  Look at stars. Tiny shadows of cats leaping into the sky Shadows descending from the moon!
  Shantak! Grabbed!
  Taken to moon, giant crystal tower
  Carter dreamlike going inside, follow
  Throne room. Man inside, black skin, smashing crystal gong
  Question Carter
  Noise!
  Carter awoken, fights Nyarlathotep
  Dream? Awaken, find Carter, sudden morning
  Fabulous riches! Given cart and go
  Meet travelers on the road. Performers
  Bronze Wheel Circus


• October 13th:
  Blacked-robed man? No skin showing at all
  Fortune telling!
  Mickey's fortune. Riches if he stays in the Dreamlands, danger if he leaves
  Arrived at Lôsk. Port town, larger than any other city seen
  Carouse in tavern, get answers. Lôsk is ruled from Council Spire, Council of Traders
  Dark Cult! In ruined district. Ebony Temple Man from Leng in the street.
  Kammas Tah disappearance! Emman Tah took over, now men from Leng allowed to trade. Directions to the Eye of the Needle hospitality house
  Stay. Next morning, shopping!

  Throw parties!
  Tah family. Original trade families in Lôsk. Skilled in battle, martial prowess continues in importance. Known for humility. Kammas Tah has a son, Marras Tah. Emman took seat because they never found the sword

• November 24th:
  Marras comes. Give sword! Goes out to
  Monkey steals whistle!
  Ambushed by Men from Leng! Battle!
  Battle Madness. Killed seven out of eight men.
  Steal Leng Men body. Leave
  Discuss with Marras, then go to guard
  Guard will go to council, show body to enemies of Emman. Emman is imprisoned, Marras is inducted. Men from Leng deported, Ebony Temple knocked down. Heroes of Lôsk!
  Leave for Ulthar
  Woman in the middle of the road! Mysterious but super beautiful Par, from Sonya Nil, the land of fancy
  Riding into forest. Something is wrong. Hears child whining. Goblins!
  After did, in goblin camp
  Save children! Return to village


• December 8th:
  Arrive in Ulthar
  Cats react poorly to Aram. Shunned
  Ask woman about Dreamers in linen robes. No answer, stare into space
  Temple is unused
  To flower drink tavern, bartender says Dreamers all come out of forest in robes. Can't go in forest, only out
  Ask man about forest. Wake up in forest, next to giant tree, came to Ulthar. Doesn't remember what doing before Dreamlands
  Mickey asks the cats the same questions. Cat is indifferent but directs to Burgomeister Cranon. Burgomeister questions, like census. Tells about Keeper of Dreams
  Enter Temple of the Elder Ones. Nothing there
  Head to Enchanted Wood. Walk out after entering. Hear scurrying sounds? See glowing eyes--mouse-sized creatures
  Town drunk? Passed out in gutter. Vanished around 3 a.m.
  Aram explains exile! No cat may cross threshold to temple of Nyarlathotep. Aram did, cats feel he is tainted
  Council of Cats, Aram reinstatement
  Look for drunk! Find easily. He is Keeper of Dreams, offers the key to the wood
  Later enter the Enchanted Wood
  Puddle trap! Captured! Eventually wake up
  Find humans covered in phosphorescent mushrooms. But secretly mushroom fruit! Oh no!
  Wall of silver crystal approaches suddenly! Imprisoned in silver crystal. Hit it a lot, break out.
  Capture Zoog! Order it to lead us to the gate. When night falls, meteor or something lands. Moon beasts!
  Find giant tree, enter door
  Down stairs, fall into void!


• December 16th:
  Falling for ages. Sleep like drowning, lights far away...then awaken Large room. Feeding tube, catatonic people Once again, different bodies
  Orderly outside. Asylum?
  Subdued guard! Look at newspaper, date two weeks in future. Get clothes, leave Drive to close town. Folk.
  Drug store, then train
  Cops! Fast talk out of problem.
  Cat on train. Aram!
  Arrive. Urge to find something, ghoul promise. Follow To Brooklyn cemetery Mina Daeker. Get shovels, dig Open coffin. Scent of death--enticing?
  Cannibalism!!!
  Back to Martin's apartment
  Tongs won't let us see Liao
  Equip. Wait for nightfall. Reconnoiter
  Adam distract! Gunfight
  Fight in restaurant
  Enter Liao's office
  Original bodies gone!!
  Mr Liao dies. Take books
  Adam back to London. Body catatonic.
  Spaulding sad! But convinced
  Martin takes up the fight against Nyarlathotep. Aram too
  Mickey is rejected by wife due to new body. Take up new boxing career
