Not too much other than the farmer's market today. I've been really stressed today with everything I've had to do--two virtual workshops, going to the farmer's market, making dinner, taking care of
sashagee who's still not feeling well (not the plague, fortunately), and watching Mortal Kombat tonight with my book group after we read the book last week. And on Monday I cleaned the entire house, and on Tuesday I had Japanese tutoring. It's been a lot, and it's back to the good old days of stress-induced stomach pain.
Anyway, food.

That most simple of dinners, a sandwich, made with duck sausage from Sausage König, basil and garlic pickled mushrooms from River Valley Ranch, collards sautéed in the duck fat and leftover radish microgreens from Wild Coyote Farm, all on two slices of "grandpa's rye" from Bennison's Bakery coated with spicy hummus from the Middle Eastern Grocery Store.
It all came together really well! I was worried that the different flavors would all clash, especially after I decided that I should use duck fat to cook the sausage and collards (nearly scalding myself in the process), but the spicy hummus, pickled mushrooms, and duck all tasted beautiful together. The only problem was the structure--as you can see from the picture, I put the hummus on the wrong side of one of the slices of bread, meaning they were off-center and the various tiny mushroom and sausage slices kept coming out, forcing me to take a bite of sandwich and then pick them up with my hands. I would not have been able to play a game of cards whilst eating this sandwich, as delicious as it was.
The bread was not as dark as I would have liked. That's the only major change I would have made other than cutting the sausage lengthwise.

Kouign-amann from Lost Larson. I remember a few years ago there was a kouign-amann craze and it seemed like it was everywhere, to the point where I'd often get one at Whole Foods whenever I went shopping. It seems to have dried up in the years since then, though, and I haven't one in the bakery snacks display at Whole Foods in a few years. I figured that if Lost Larson had them, though, I certainly wouldn't miss anything, and I didn't. This had a delicious outer crunch, while the inside was chewy enough that I couldn't cut it with my fork and ended up having to spear it and then rip it off like it was a kebab. I did it gladly.
I thought I would have finished Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn by now but every single time I think I'm done there's something else I find I want to do. First it was finishing all the crafting quests so that I could immediately start the new ones once I got to Heavensward. Then it was becoming allied with all the beast tribes. Then it was doing the comedic Hildebrand quests. Then it was leveling Dragoon to 50 when I heard that it tied in nicely to Heavensward. Then it was doing the post-moogle quests, which I keep hearing provide a bunch of nice lore and are the best sidequests in the game. Then I realized that I hadn't finished the crafting quests, for some reason I forgot to do the carpenter ones. It's an MMO, so of course there's always something to do to keep the players entertained, but this is all base-level #Content and none of the time-sink stuff like the Zodiac weapons or chocobo racing or some of the more taxing achievements. And the plot is already really good, so if Heavensward and beyond are better...well. I've got a lot of fun ahead of me.
Two more Farmer's Market Dinners left.
