Fortunately, these were also the bourgeoisie, so there's plenty of reason to demonize them even if they didn't mystically brainwash people, drink their blood, or perform horrible experiments on them!

(I actually used a bit of that for my character's backstory--he committed a bunch of war crimes during the rebellion under the rationale that due to vampiric mind control, anyone who'd ever been alone with a vampire could never entirely be trusted again)
